Still nervous? That's completely normal. Every great hunter started with their first mystery. The only way to find out if this is for you is to try it and there's a growing, worldwide community that thinks you're going to love it.

"I don't know the rules!"

Perfect! I'll teach you everything you need to know as we play. Monster of the Week is designed to be intuitive. When you want to do something, you'll roll two regular six-sided dice (the same ones in that Monopoly game collecting dust on your shelf). You'll pick up the basics in your first session.

Not at all! Good participation doesn't require performance. Many players just play themselves as their character, which makes roleplay even easier. What we do need is engagement: ask questions, explore the mystery, interact with your fellow hunters, and don't be afraid to try the cool thing you're thinking about.

"Do I need to do voices or act?"

"What if I don't know what to do?"

I'll guide you through everything, and your fellow players are usually happy to help too. Plus, your character playbook gives you specific abilities and suggestions for what you might do in different situations.

Yes, but in good ways! Monster of the Week focuses more on investigation and storytelling than tactical combat. There's no battle map. Everything happens in "theater of the mind" with rich descriptions. The dice mechanics are different too, but much simpler once you get used to them.

"I've only played Dungeons and Dragons before. Is this different?"

"What if I'm not creative?"

You don't need to be "creative" in some special way. The game provides structure and prompts, and creativity emerges naturally from playing with other people. Some of the best moments come from simple, honest character choices.

No worries at all. StartPlaying Games has flexible cancellation and rescheduling policies. Life happens! Communicate with me and we'll work it out.

"What if I book and can't make it or the game starts and I'm not into it?"
